Senator Loren Legarda today renewed her call for the government to empower the Filipino youth to become more actively involved in climate change issues.
Legarda, United Nations Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation for Asia-Pacific, made the statement in observance of the first National Day for Youth in Climate Action, which is celebrated every November 25, starting this year, by virtue of Proclamation No. 1160.

Senator Loren Legarda today renewed her call for convergence between and among government agencies, private sector, civil society groups and individuals in addressing the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events.
Legarda, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, made the call as the country celebrates the National Climate Change Consciousness Week (November 19-25, 2015) with the theme, “Multiple Pathways, One Direction”.

Senator Loren Legarda, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, presented today the proposed 2016 national budget worth P3.002 Trillion that aims to proactively address the impacts of climate change and disasters and promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
“This budget is not budget as usual. For many years now I have been consistently advocating for a paradigm shift in the way we do governance and how we promote development,” said Legarda.

VENICE, ITALY- “We’ve made it back to the Venice Biennale and this is just the beginning,” National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Chairperson Felipe de Leon, Jr. stated.

Senator Loren Legarda lauded the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Declaration signed by the 21 member economies, which highlighted the Philippines’ priorities to build inclusive economies, to the benefit and growth of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
But Legarda said that the true success of the 2015 APEC meetings hosted by the Philippines and the 2015 APEC Leaders’ Declaration will be measured through the actual gains.
