Legarda Celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Month with Dayaw Season 6, Nat’l Arts and Crafts Fair

In celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Month this October, Senator Loren Legarda enjoins everyone to watch today the sixth season of Dayaw and to visit the second edition of the 2018 National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF).

The NACF opens today, October 25 until Sunday, October 28, at Megatrade Halls 1-3, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. It features 260 booths of local artisans and schools of living traditions (SLTs) representing all regions in the country. All 18 municipalities of Antique, Legarda’s home province, are also represented.

Legarda Enjoins Antiqueños to Conserve Northwest Panay Peninsula Park, Other Protected Areas

Senator Loren Legarda today enjoined her fellow Antiqueños as well as citizens of the Panay island to protect the region’s natural resources, especially its protected areas, such as the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NWPPNP).

Legarda, a staunch environmentalist and principal author of the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018 (ENIPAS) under Republic Act No. 11038, said that protected areas are critical in biodiversity conservation. Biodiversity is essential for human existence as it provides for the many goods and services we need, such as: clean air, fresh water and food products, as well as the many other products like timber and fiber.

Legarda Leads Groundbreaking of Aklan Tourism and Trade Center

Senator Loren Legarda today led the groundbreaking of the Aklan Tourism and Trade Investment and Promotions Center at the Aklan Provincial Capitol in Kalibo.

 

Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance who allotted the funds for the said project, stressed the importance of tourism and trade in spurring local economy and boosting rural livelihood.
