Senator Loren Legarda today supported the government agencies’ plans to rehabilitate the island of Boracay and expressed that these interventions be implemented as well in all other tourist destinations all over the country.
“Boracay’s issue is foremost an environmental concern, and I am glad that our Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is taking the lead in returning the island back to its pristine state,” Legarda said.

In line with the celebration of International Day for Street Children (April 12), Senator Loren Legarda today said that providing Filipino families with basic services and better opportunities will help keep children out of the streets.
Legarda said that addressing the problem requires not only protecting street children but also ensuring that they will go back to their families who would have the means to support them. There are approximately 250,000 street children in the Philippines.

Senator Loren Legarda today commended local government units (LGUs) that have committed to pursuing resilient and sustainable development by shifting to the use of clean and renewable energy sources.
Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change, made the statement following the declaration of the local government of Negros Oriental that it will go coal-free and pursue to be an environment-friendly and clean energy province.
