Senator Legarda Comes Home to Antique (Day 1 – January 11, 2018)

Senator Loren Legarda is welcomed by students during her visit to her home province of Antique. Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, launched several projects and checked the progress of ongoing development projects and programs within the province. She said that she wants to ensure that the programs of various agencies of government are implemented well and actually benefit the people.

Senator Loren Legarda explains the various programs for health, education, livelihood, employment, and other social services that Antiqueños can avail of during her visit to her home province of Antique. Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said, “I wanted to come home to my province to personally witness how the programs of government are actually benefitting the people and to assess what still needs to be done for my fellow Antiqueños and for all Filipinos. These projects that we have in Antique are the same projects that we have in the rest of the country. By seeing the implementation of these projects, we would know which are effective and which need to be improved.”

Senator Loren Legarda is warmly welcomed by Antiqueños during her visit to her home province to launch several projects and check the implementation of government programs. Legarda said, “I am hopeful that these programs will help improve the lives of Antiqueños and we shall not stop until we have fully unlocked the potential of Antique. This is also what we want to happen in all our communities nationwide. Our country and all Filipinos certainly deserve more. It is not enough that we fund programs that would address the needs and concerns of the Filipino people, we must also make sure that the people know, understand and are able to access these programs. Through these government programs, we must be able to uplift the lives of our people.”

Senator Loren Legarda leads the ceremonial groundbreaking of the proposed site of the Institute of Living Tradition in Antique, her home province. This is an institute for technical, basic and higher education, both formal and non-formal, in the traditional or indigenous knowledge systems, practices and skills of multi-cultural Philippines. It is envisioned to be an important center and laboratory for the protection, promotion and development of the province’s communal traditions.
