Dayaw Features Laguna de Bay

November 15, 2018

Senator Loren Legarda invites everyone to watch the fourth episode of Dayaw Season 6: Agos on Thursday, November 15, 6:30 pm, on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/liveand on ANC’s Facebook page.

The fourth episode, “Laguna (The Lake as Mother)”, looks at how the Laguna de Bay, which is considered the largest lake in the country, has shaped the consciousness and influenced the lifestyle of those living around it.

“Laguna de Bay has proven to be a sustaining life force, not only for fishermen but also for craftsmen, artists and musicians. Many facets of Laguna and Rizal’s cultures are linked to the lake and its influences,” said Legarda.

This episode of Dayaw also features two National Artists—Lucio San Pedro and Carlos “Botong” Francisco—who both grew in the lakeshore town of Angono, Rizal.

A whole clan in Angono also draws inspiration from their environment and from the traditions of rural life, now fast disappearing.

“The Laguna Lake has nurtured so much creativity, determination, willpower. We hope through this episode, we realize not only its influence in communities around it but also the importance of preserving the lake’s water quality and its marine ecosystems,” said Legarda.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.

It is shown every Thursday, at 6:30 pm on ANC, with livestreaming on news.abs-cbn.com/liveand on ANC’s Facebook page, and aired simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC). Replays are on Friday 1:30am and 2:30pm, Saturday 3:00am and 8:30am, Sunday 11:30am, and Monday 1:30pm.
