Inday Loren Leads FastCat’s Ceremonial Voyage in Antique

May 6, 2019

Senator Loren Legarda leads today the ceremonial voyage of FastCat from Culasi to Caticlan, a route that will soon be available to Antiqueños and tourists who want to visit the province.

Together with Legarda are FastCat Executives led by its President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chet Pastrana, Antique Provincial officials led by Governor Rhodora Cadiao and Vice Governor Edgar Denosta, among other guests.

The FastCat vessel will take its ceremonial voyage from Lipata Port in Culasi to Caticlan Port where it will be welcomed by Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores.

FastCat is a Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) passenger vessel that has a seating capacity of 300 people and could accommodate 33 cars (or 6 trucks/bus) on its car deck. The captain for the ceremonial voyage is Capt. Alex Tavera of FastCat.

“This is another effort to ease travel to and from Antique not only for our kasimanwas but also for tourists and investors. Like the Philippine Airlines’ direct flights to Antique, the FastCat project will help spur local economy as it will boost trade and tourism,” said Legarda.

Legarda, who is running for Congresswoman of the lone district of Antique, shared that plans for the FastCat route to Antique began last year when she was thinking of how she can help her fellow Antiqueños to go to other provinces. She immediately met with Pastrana and successfully convinced him to invest in Antique since Legarda has also ensured the rehabilitation and improvement of ports in the province.

The FastCat project was unveiled in February and in just three months, it will have its ceremonial voyage. There will also be a Culasi-Caluya route after the port in Caluya is fixed this year.

“This project will open up more opportunities for our kasimanwas. Antique’s progress is truly unstoppable and I will make sure that this will be an inclusive development because we want to uplift the life of every Antiqueño,” Legarda concluded.
