Legarda Congratulates Antique for being Chosen Host of 2017 Palarong Pambansa

November 23, 2016

Senator Loren Legarda today congratulated her home province of Antique on being selected as host for the 2017 Palarong Pambansa.

“I am delighted that Antique has been chosen to host next year’s Palarong Pambansa. This is an achievement not only for the people of the province but also for the entire Panay region,” said Legarda.

The Senator said that Antique’s bid stands out for a number of reasons, which include its well-equipped sports facilities such as an Olympic-sized swimming pool, newly-renovated oval track, enough covered courts and playing fields, among others. It also has sufficient billeting quarters—complete with electricity and water supply, police security, and medical personnel and facilities—to accommodate delegations from parts of the country.

The Province has also made the necessary preparations for the security and safety of all participants and guests. Designated schools have already made preparations and are ready to welcome everyone with the warm Antiqueño hospitality.

Moreover, the Senator said Antique’s rich cultural heritage and dynamism makes it an exciting venue for people to share ideas and build camaraderie.

“I have no doubt that the 2017 Palarong Pambansa will be a hugely successful affair, and one which will showcase Antique’s beauty and rich cultural and historical heritage. Moreover, it is a perfect venue to showcase camaraderie and cooperation as showcased in its community efforts to preserve the ecological integrity of its natural wonders like the Antique Rice Terraces and the Bugang River, the country’s cleanest river, among many others,” Legarda concluded.
