Legarda’s Outfits for Opening of Session and SONA Convey Support for Marawi

To convey her support for Maranao culture, heritage, livelihood and her commitment to help in the swift and complete rehabilitation ofMarawi, Senator Loren Legarda will wear Maranao outfits both for the Session opening at the Senate in the morning and the President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

For the Opening of the 2nd Regular Session of the 17th Congress in the morning, Senator Legarda will wear an old gown from the 1990’s made from a Maranao landap which she wore when the Marawi Sultanate League conferred on her the title of Bai a Labi a Macalangkap (an Honorary Muslim princess title which means known to everyone).

For the President’s SONA in the afternoon, Senator Legarda will wear an old blouse worn by her late mother who was from Antique province and an old Maranao landap woven in the traditional inaul way. She will also wear shoes made from Marikina and locally made bag as part of her support for local microenterprises.
