October 1, 2021

Antique Rep. Loren Legarda on Friday morning filed her Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) for senator in the May 2022 national elections.

She arrived at the Sofitel Garden Tent in Pasay City at around 8:00 a.m., making her the first one to file a CoC for the national post.

Based on a recent Pulse Asia survey, Legarda ranked fourth in the senatorial race with 47.2 percent. Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo topped the poll with 55.2 percent.

Prior to being a congresswoman, Legarda is a three-term senator.

Legarda served as a senator from 1998 to 2004; and was reelected in 2007 and served until 2019.

In 1998 and 2007, she was the only female senator to top two senatorial elections.

She unsuccessfully ran as vice president in 2004 and 2010.
