SONA 2015 fashion: Simple and fashionable in the morning

July 27, 2015

Hours before President Benigno Aquino III is scheduled to deliver his last State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa, lawmakers, politicians and guests started trooping to the Senate hall on Monday garbed in simple Filipiniana attire for the opening session of the 16th Congress.

Sen. Nancy Binay, who got flak last year for a green-and-white gown done by designer Randy Ortiz, chose to stick to tradition and be “boring” in a blue terno also by Ortiz.

Sen. Loren Legarda, meanwhile, chose to again showcase her love for indigenous fabric by draping one over a black ensemble.

Legarda’s office said she used a tapis from her textile collection, Bontoc necklace, Ilonggot earrings, and Marikina shoes by Tish Sevilla. Her bag was made by the women of Brgy. Holy Spirit in Quezon City using recycled newspapers.

Senator Grace Poe, who looked radiant in a white terno by Paul Cabral, posed with her alleged “sibling” Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. Last month, Poe denied the decades-old gossip that she was the daughter of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
