‘Taklub’ — Nora Aunor-starrer nominated in Cannes

THIS is the message of the Nora Aunor movie titled Taklub, which has been selected under the Un Certain Regard section of the 68th Cannes International Film Festival. which will be held from May 13 to 24, 2015. The prestigious invitation-only festival will be held this year from May 13 to 24 in France.
Taklub is also the latest collaboration of Senator Loren Legarda and 2009 Cannes Best Director Brillante Mendoza, which aims to promote disaster risk reduction and create awareness about climate change.
“Following the disaster caused by Supertyphoon Yolanda, I thought we have to do something to further raise awareness on the need to be prepared for disasters and build resilience, said Legarda.
Brillante, meanwhile feels grateful for this opportunity to helm a very timely film that delves into the worldwide phenomenon that is climate change.
Explaining the movie’s title, he said, “Taklub is a metaphor for Tacloban, which came from the word ‘taklub’ meaning cover. It is also used for catching fish,”
Aunor, plays a mother who loses three of her four children after Yolanda ravaged the province of Tacloban.
“I’m very grateful that I was given the opportunity to do this film,” said the Superstar. “I was able to witness the true condition of our countrymen there, and until now they really need our help, and most especially the help of the government.”
Senator Legarda, Mendoza and Aunor personally announced the selection of Taklub for Cannes at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in Quezon City.
